Shumagin Islands, AK

In the remote and rarely visited Shumagin Islands, step ashore to view the petrified remains of a 40-million-year-old metasequoia forest. Search the tidepools for nudibranchs and anemones, and watch for bald eagles and foxes. The beaches are home to Steller sea lions, which weigh up to 1,200 pounds.
